Penumbra Sideboard

   On the front face, pieces of end grain veneer have been carefully selected and veneered together to create a beautiful pattern that make up the two sliding doors. Inside there are two compartments, one with two shelves and another a big open space for storage. The back panel of shelved compartment can be removed to allow cable space and air flow for media devices. On the right hand side, measuring 660mm long, spacious drawers are installed on a soft close mechanism with a recessed handle running vertically though all three drawers.     

   This piece is full of character and highlights the beauty of wood in different ways. Scorching the outer surface to create a deep charcoal colour blackens the white Ash. Burning the timber also produces an endless tactile surface around the exterior of the carcass where all the soft grain has been burned back.
