Critchley sideboard
This piece was commissioned by a private client, the brief was to design a sideboard to match a set of fumed Oak dining table and chairs. We designed this sideboard to be practical, to sit in our clients dining room and offer an expansive surface to serve as well as storage for china and cutlery.
The design of the Critchley sideboard complements the existing furniture by crating a bold, minimal form. A large cabinet with a horizontal groove pattern sitting on a plinth.
All of the Oak was selected from the same tree as it was fumed with Ammonia in the traditional way. The Ammonia fuming creates an irreplaceable finish, highlighting the natural variations of the Oak whilst as the same time reacting with the tannins in the timber to develop a rich deep dark brown colour.
