Based in a beautiful rural area between Exmoor and Quantocks and 15 minutes from Taunton and 30 min from M5. We specialize in designing and making bespoke free-standing furniture taking commissions from private clients, interior designers and architects. Wood is at the heart of everything we make but we also have a  small ceramic studio where we produce artworks and where we will soon be producing products. Our work varies year on year, at any time we are making furniture, designing and prototyping products or producing one off artworks in wood and/or ceramic

 

-THE POSITION-

EXPERIENCED MAKER


Available from September 1st, 2023.

This is a position for a maker who is happy to do a variety of work, has an innate interest in craft and is happy to work with a small and friendly team based in Somerset. We are looking for someone with previous experience who can bring new knowledge to our team and help us grow. You will need to be comfortable working on your own initiative, independently and with a team. The position requires someone who is happy to work on high end bespoke work as well as help with prototyping and production of products both in wood and ceramic (no ceramic experience needed).

The position is for a 4-5 day/week, 8hr/day.

The first three months will be as a freelance maker, with a review after this before moving onto PAYE.

Pay is based on experience, TBD.

REQUIREMENTS

The ideal candidate for this position is a furniture maker with a minimum of 2 years of experience working on bespoke wood furniture and cabinetmaking. 

  • Has an understanding of technical joinery details 

  • Needs to demonstrate excellent hand and machine skills and to be able to complete individual pieces independently. 

  • Has attention to detail and problem solving skills

  • Is organized, tidy and has good time-keeping

  • Is proactive 

  • Is flexible and happy to respond to the needs of the business and projects.

  • Is proud of the work they make

  • Happy to work with a small team

Responsibilities

  • Production of furniture pieces

  • Production of products both in wood and ceramic

  • Assist with artworks in wood

  • Work with the team to help complete projects on time and efficiently

  • Help keep the workshop organised and maintain machines
